Reminder

A reminder that due to Patient Confidentiality, we withhold our telephone number when making outgoing calls. If your phone is set up to reject “number withheld” calls, we may not be able to contact you by phone unless you give us an alternative number.

The Reception staff will ask you the nature of your appointment in order to direct you to the most appropriate clinician, be that a Nurse Practitioner or a GP.  Please do not be offended, they are well aware that they are not medically qualified but they do have a protocol and process to follow in order to help you, the patient, to be seen as quickly as possible by the clinician that can help you with your presenting problem. Please treat them with respect.

New Staff

Training Practice

The Practice continues to be a Training Practice with Doctors coming to the surgery on a four monthly placement in order to experience General Practice.  We would emphasise that these staff members are qualified Doctors being mentored by Dr Mahmood.

We are also providing mentorship to trainee nurses who may decide to work in General Practice after their experiences in the practice.  These nurses will be sitting in on your consultations with the Nursing Team.  If you would prefer them not to be present please do let the practice know.

Pharmacy Managed Repeats

For safety reasons and in order to help prevent wastage, the Hawkinge and Elham Valley Practice no longer accepts repeat prescription requests for patients from pharmacies. All pharmacies are aware of this change.

Patients affected by this change now need to request their medication direct from the surgery by either
• signing up for online ordering, Patient Access (which is a safe and effective way of managing your repeat medication) or
• ticking the appropriate boxes on the repeat medication slip and either posting this through the door, leaving in the box or handing to reception.
• We do need two working days to process repeat medication requests.
