Diabetes Service

Our diabetes service is run by our diabetes nurse specialist Sarah Deans supported by our practice nurse Clare Bowden with medical input by Dr Robert Stewart. Barbara is our receptionist who is responsible for arranging the diabetic clinics and appointments.

We aim to review all patients with diabetes six monthly in addition to any hospital care which you may be receiving.

If you are a new patient or have not been seen in the last 6 months please contact Barbara who will arrange the appropriate appointments.

Our routine screening includes:

• Blood testing for HbA1c which assess overall diabetic control, kidney function, liver function and cholesterol
• Annual urine testing to monitor kidney damage
• Annual retinal screening - clinical photography of your eyes will show early diabetic changes
• Blood pressure monitoring
• Foot and pulse testing
