Sexual Health

Back to Home Page

Sexual health is about being able to enjoy your sexuality in a way that also protects your health and well-being.

The best way to protect your own and your partner’s sexual health is to practise safer sex.

Safer sex means knowing the risks you face. It also means taking steps to reduce your chances of getting or passing on a sexually transmitted infection, or having an unplanned pregnancy.

For advice please contact the surgery and make an appointment to see our Nurse Specialist Julia Davies.

You can also get free, confidential treatment and advice at any family planning or NHS sexual health (GUM) clinic.  You can find information about your nearest NHS sexual health clinic by phoning the National AIDS Helpline free on 0800 567 123, or phone your local hospital and ask for the GUM or “special” clinic. Clinics will be listed in the phone book under genitor-urinary medicine (GUM), sexually transmitted diseases (STD) or venereal diseases (VD).
